Clicquot Beach House

If it’s one company that know how to throw an event it’s Veuve Clicquot! No detail is left uncovered, no idea too small or large and every aspect of the trip is always planned and organised to within an inch of it’s life. I was lucky enough to be invited in 2014 to my first Veuve Clicquot in the Snow.

When the email popped up with the subject “Clicquot Beach House”, I stopped everything to open it. Yup my excitement had been elevated with the news of another trip away with Veuve Clicquot!

Monday 18th April fast approached and before we knew it we were boarding a flight to the Gold Coast. On arrival we were greeted with a row of White BMW x5’s all branded with Clicquot beach House. We were then driven 20 min until we arrived at our home for the next 2 nights, Halcyon House.

Veuve Clicquot had taken over the beautiful boutique Halcyon House located in Cabarita Beach. Set a minute’s walk from the nearby beach, this vivid boutique hotel is 3.5 km from Casuarina Beach, 11 km from Kingscliff Beach and 17 km from Stotts Island Nature Reserve. The individually designed, colourful rooms and suites with fabric walls and antique furnishes have private courtyards or balconies.

As we take this stunning structure in and soak up the relaxed coastal feel, we are handed a glass of Clicquot and found ourselves amidst a beautiful fresh seafood lunch at Paper Daisy, Halcyon’s local restaurant. After refueling it was time for more exploring. When opening the door to our room we are greeted with those graphic walls and vibrant antique feels. The room bright and homely, the bathroom spacious and tiles bold. On the bed lay Veuve clicquot bags filled with bottles of champagne, yoga matts and other assorted goodies.  Before we knew it, it was time to get dressed and head out to the manicured gardens for Clicquology hour at sunset, where we were served Clicquot on ice, which we paired back with fruits or vegetables of our choice. Yes I said vegetables! My husband chose chili and capsicum, where as I stuck to my grapefruit and orange zest. Soon it was time to head to the Clicquot welcome dinner set up poolside under the stars. Guests sipped on clicquot and enjoyed a menu created by Halcyon head chef Ben Devlin. Following dinner guests moved onto the lawn were a moonlight cinema was set up.

The next morning we started with Yoga by the sea, an energising 6o min session hosted by leading Australian instructor Kate Kendall. Such an inspiring way to start the day and nothing better than with your toes nestled in the sand and the sound of the waves crashing. A casual breakfast followed at Paper Daisy and then it was time to hit the bike. With all this incredible food and bubbles, I felt the need to hit the local bike track in style. Nothing screams style more then an orange / yellow branded bike!

Badminton and bubbles was on the afternoon’s agenda. Dressed in your badminton whites, or Veuve Clicquot polo (yes another incredible gift left on the bed ) Teams were formed and shuttlecocks hit. The winning team (sadly not us, even though we bought our A game) walked away with a Magnum bottle and some seriously big heads. As we opened our doors that evening to head to dinner, a single lantern lay lit at our door. We carried it to dinner and placed it at our place setting. A room that was in the dark, was soon bright with guests and lantern’s which lined the dinning tables. Food and champagne had been perfectly paired by Ben Devlin again and needless to say the taste buds were tantalized.
