Les Chalets Club Med de Valmorel
New places and new memories is something we all desire. With so many incredible cities, countries and cultures ready to be discovered, how do you choose where to go and more importantly where to stay! For a few years now I have had the pleasure of working with Club Med, visiting two of their stunning resorts in Maldives. Each offering different experiences from the romantic, exclusive trip to the family filled holiday. Read about Club Med Finolhu and Club Med Kani here.
End of last year, Club Med approached us with a destination opportunity, one can only dream off. A place I knew little about, but had placed firmly on the bucket list from an early age. The French Alps. The Chalets at Club Med Valmorel are part of Club Med’s exclusive collection situated high up in the Alps, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The sunbeams down onto the crisp white snow and the views stretch over the beautiful valleys below. Club Med Valmorel is a winter wonderland, a playground for the big and small just waiting to be discovered!
We flew from Sydney to London and then it was only a small flight to Geneva where we were greeted by the smiling face of a Club Med driver. From Geneva it’s a 3 hour drive across the boarder and into the mountains. The time quickly passes as you stare in awe out the car window and the towering Alps and local yet quant villages that lye beneath. It wasn’t long before the waving hands of Club Med staff where seen in the distance, ready to escort us straight from the car into our Chalet.
The door opens and our own personal butler greets us! Yup, you heard that right, we had a butler! Eshan (Our Butler ) was quick to show us round our Chalet and give us the information needed on the resort for our stay. Knowing we had just travelled over 36 hours, Eshan unpacked our luggage, giving us the opportunity to sit back and relax in front of our open fireplace and bask in the breathtaking views from our balcony.
Club Med Valmorel offer different accommodation options, that range from different prices. From standard “Club” rooms, to “deluxe” and even “5-trident Luxury suites”. The Les Chalets Club Med de Valmorel where we were fortunate enough to call home for 6 nights, are the ultimate luxury option and are part of Club Med exclusive collection joining the likes of Club Med Finohlu. Our Chalet sat right next to the ski field, allowing us to ski from our front door onto the Alps. A cozy two bedroom chalet ( also available in 3 and 4 bedrooms ) with crisp and homely furnishings. The Resort stands at an altitude of 1,460 metres (4,790 ft) Nestled on the slopes of the Massif du Cheval Noir.
On arrival as part of your welcome package you are given your ski pass, along with keys to your own locker. In your own time, whenever the day suits you pop down to the ski shop, located under the lobby. Here, professionals will fit you with ski’s boots, poles, helmets and snowboards, which are taken to your personal locker for you to use throughout the duration of your holiday. If you’re an adrenalin junkie or just love to take your time on the slopes, there are many runs to suit any level skier / snowboarder.
After a day’s skiing or fun in the snow, beautiful restaurants beckon, inspired by the seasons. The food is a mixture of all cuisines allowing your taste buds to feel familiarity of home or experience new flavours from around the world. Desert tables filled with local pastries and hand made ice-cream served to you parlor style, by an ice cream connoisseur. In the main resort lobby, Le Roc Bar is situated, the place to go for an early evening drink or to watch the nightly shows.
After long days exploring the mountain skiing, snowboarding, sledding and snow hikining the one thing we would look forward to was the daily 4pm afternoon tea our butler would set up in front of the fire. Such a luxury to turn up to your chalet to a roaring fire, the smell of freshly brewed coffee, selection of teas and local patisseries! I know heaven.
Club Med is a place for everyone! A real family experience, with children’s clubs for all ages, from babies up to teens and for those romantics at heart you have not been forgotten. With that said let’s talk about the Spa and no I’m not talking about the outdoor hot tub ( which was amazing ). It wouldn’t be a holiday without sneaking in some pampering. I’m not new to a massage, but I’m new to enjoying the comforts of being pampered whilst being surrounded by views of snow. The Spa almost giving the effect of caves set in the mountain, gave the most tranquil and automatic feeling of relaxation.
This trip was one that created the most unforgettable memories. Les Chalets Club Med de Valmorel was both majestic, breathtaking, carfree, relaxing and fun. The stay was filled with incredible food, privacy, customised service and luxury comfort, with that warm and friendly Club Med spirit we all know and love. During our 6 nights we were blessed to endure days filled with both sunshine and snow, giving us the ultimate experience that is one of a fairytale.
